Moving to Viborg tomorrow to start a semester course in classical drawing at The Drawing Academy on January the 12th.
Welp.
I'm both psyched, hungry, nervous, excited and... :| :la: :dummy: :faint: :nuu: :ohnoes: :meditation: :pills: :snowing:
... and hungry.
Mainly updating to not look at my previous journal that was all about a kickstarter campaign that's long since ended.

Do you like adventure games like Monkey Island or Broken Sword?
If so,this project on kickstarter might be for you. :) It's for the sequel of a game called Kaptain Brawe. The art looks very good.

The first game is a great little classical adventure about space pirates (!!!), AND you can download it FOR FREE during the kickstarter campaign. :) Check it out, and if you like the first game, you might consider joining the kickstarter for the sequel, yes? :) The talented Bill Tiller (artist of Monkey Island 3, Full throttle and A Vampyre Story) is in on the project too!

Here is the link to the kickstarter for Kaptain Brawe 2: A Space Travesty:

The game website for Kaptain Brawe 2 where you can currently download the 1st chapter of Kaptain Brawe for free:

Concerning yours truly: I am in the middle of exams and soon to be done with high school. Wow. So I am a bit busy with studying, but enjoying the time off from school all the same.
:peace: out!

Winter

6 min read
Hey!
So now that I've finally begun writing my final high school exam project, I thought it would be fitting to procrastinate for a while and update my neglected DA account. No drawings to show you but what the heck.
I should tell you that sadly I have no new goals as of yet. Well yes, I have plenty: "finish high school" is one of them, for example; but most I feel are kinda given (I HOPE! :fear: :crossfingers: revision). Let me tell you about my progress for the goals I wrote in the last entry:

- SAVE UP! Here's my $0.02
Progress: Star!:star-half:No Star

- Well, this one will probably never get three stars as it is pretty much ongoing - I don't think there will ever be a time in my life when I'm not saving up. But now I've gotten a job, and so far every penny of my pay, plus a fair part of my monthly allowance has gone directly into the "Go to the Drawing Academy after high school"-donation pool. Which leads me to my next goal:

- Figure out what to do with my life after high school. And if not, at least decide on whatever, and see where it takes me
Progress: Star!Star!Star!

 - Alright! After high school I plan to start taking more hours at work in order to save up. Then, when I'm 6 months outta High School it's straight to Viborg for this: www.animwork.dk/en/tda_semeste…  Well, that my plan anyway. But who knows how reality will work out. At least I have a plan. :) After TDA, I don't really know. Maybe university. But then, considering my next point:

 - GET ALL THE A'S! Or B's. B's totally work too.
Progress: Star!Half StarNo Star

- This one... I don't really know how to mark this one. I mean, my grades for the fall went well. I had gone from A to B in almost all subjects, which didn't surprise me, considering I'm a bit tired of high school and I probably don't put in all the effort I should. If I can at least keep all my grades on B, and not fall down to a C, then, even if I don't get straight A's, I will feel kinda proud. It just sucks after 2 years of almost nothing but straight A's on my record, now at the very end is where I get sloppy. ALWAYS PRESERVE YOUR ENERGY FOR THE FINAL KILL, MY YOUNG PEDEVANS!

- Be in the school play.
Progress:Star!Star!Star!

- The premiere isn't until the end of January, but I've gotten a minor part which is really fun, and my co-stars are great! And it's just a school play so we basically have fun acting and then go and eat cake and act as if we weren't behind on about 10 hours of home work and other even more important aspects of our lives. Great fun.

- Work a week in a bike repair shop
Progress: Star!Star!Star!

- DONE! Well, I started considering the possibility of not choosing the academic path, and I asked around if I could come and hang out in a bike workshop. Third time's the charm, and they were very nice to have me and teach me a small part of what it means to be a bike mechanic. I'm not sure that's what I'll go for as a career but at least it made me see some things clearer and it was a really nice experience. So yay for that! :) I think it comforted me a lot in the sense that I realised, no matter what I end up doing for a job, my life will still be about a bunch of other things that have nothing to do with my job. So I'm not as worried about the big empty void after high school anymore. Which is good. Now I just need to get out of the damn thing alive so I can start NOT doing homework.

- Learn how to juggle Juggle
Progress: No StarNo StarNo Star

- Sad to say I haven't even started on this one! D: I need to borrow my boyfriend's juggling balls (hur hur hur) and start practicing. I don't know why all the fun stuff always get put last on my list. xD Sometimes I'll force myself not to do my homework as thorough because my drawing hand is itching to get stuff on paper. Maybe I should try that with juggling instead.

Well, I guess that's all for now. If you need me I'll be trying to keep up my christmas spirit while writing about incomplete combustion and particle emissions, while figuring out what in the blue blazes a directional derivative of multivariate differentiable function actually does. Happy 1st of December tomorrow, you guys!

Back to work!
:bademoticon: <-awww. This one is so fitting because I'm doing an exam on soot. Teehee.
:tribbletard: <- I have nothing but bad hairdays these days.

tl;dr: I'm stressed out but I'm hanging in there and things are looking up.

Summer

3 min read
Hey!
Mainly just updating to get the old update out of the way. The kickstarter didn't get funded, sadly, but hopefully we'll still get to see a sequel to A Vampyre Story.
Overall I've had a great summer, artwise. I finished the lovely online course at coursera with a shiny diploma that will never serve me or my curriculum whatsoever AND!
I attended a drawing course at Lundø here in Denmark: www.animwork.dk/en/tda_summer_…
It was great. An entire week of intense croquis and study sessions. :)
To sum up the week, I'll use this epic quote from one of the co-instructors: "Did you guys know the neck is actually a cylinder? I didn't!"

I learned a lot about the principles of classical drawing and I'm now considering the possibilities for getting into a semester course at the Drawing Academy after finishing high school. I think I would enjoy that very much and grow a lot artistically. The only problem is that it's expensive as heck! So I'm starting a piggy bank and keeping my eye out for possible jobs. That way I'll hopefully avoid using up all my savings during my first year out of high school. But I'll bide my time. The drawing academy is still there in a year or two.

>_> I hope.

So yeah - on the lookout for jobs and good drawing teachers in real life. Fun stuff.

On a sadder note, at the beginning of July my grandfather passed away. He was one of the few persons who actually followed my activity on DA and he was, as my american host sister would have put it: "Such a character!" A few of the drawings in my gallery are even dedicated to him. I'll miss him a lot. Him and all his crazy, creative ideas and sayings.

Oh and of course, summer here in Denmark means festivals: Awesome live music, getting drunk and sleeping in a tent has been a vital part of my summer.
And now to enter my last year of high school! WHEW! I'll have scaringly few lessons and hopefully I'll be able to put all the extra time to good use. I still don't know on what, but something will show up. Something always shows up.

So far my goals for this year are:
- SAVE UP! :twocents:
- Figure out what to do with my life after high school. And if not, at least decide on whatever and see where it takes me.
- GET ALL THE A'S! Or B's. B's totally work too.
- Be in the school play.
- Work a week in a bike repair shop
- Learn how to juggle :juggle:

Peace out!

"In case you don't know me I'm Bill Tiller, illustrator and game designer. And I love making classic, Lucas Arts style graphic adventures..."

To all you gamers: Ooooh that sounds exciting, doesn't it? ;)
I'm updating my journal to spread the word about a really cool project on KickStarter:

Bill Tiller's "A Vampyre Story: Year One": www.kickstarter.com/projects/8…

"A Vampyre Story: Year One graphic adventure puts you in the role of lonely Mona, a reluctant vampire trapped in a castle by her master."

Bill Tiller has worked on some of the backgrounds for The Curse of Monkey Island.

Go support if you like adventure games and Bill Tiller's amazing art. :)

(all quotes are from the kickstarter page)

As for personal news about yours truly: Taking a break from DA, as it's not doing a lot for me artistically - instead I've begun taking real life drawing classes and joined a mostly-for-fun art course on coursera. Fun tiems!! ;D
Edit: Happy Birthday, Donald Duck! :D Not because one needs a reason to party, but now you've got a legitimate one. ;)
